NEBBIOLO (neb-bee-o-low)A Grape and a Namesake
The impetus to name our company Nebbiolo Ventures reveals a lot about who we are and how we approach our business.
Nebbiolo is an exceptional red grape variety grown in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. The name originates from the Italian word nebbia, meaning fog, which blankets the rolling hills of Piedmont’s Langhe wine growing region during harvest season—and gives the Nebbiolo grape much of its distinctive character.
Nebbiolo is not your average grape. It’s among the finest in the world and its greatness does not come easy. The vines are very particular, prospering only in calciferous soils found on the west bank of the Tanaro river that runs through the Langhe. The grape is delicate and will suffer if late summer rains are heavy.
But when cultivated properly by skilled winegrowers of the Langhe, an amazing thing happens. The small red fruit flourishes and is crafted into Barolo, Barbaresco and Gattinara, the most coveted of Italian wines among discerning international collectors.
The success born of expert cultivation story of this rare grape makes Nebbiolo a fitting namesake for our venture. It reflects our approach of helping struggling technology companies bloom and reach their true potential. Even in the most difficult of circumstances.
We too are particular—especially about the clients we choose. And when we nurture a company in our unconventional and expert way, phenomenal growth occurs.
Nebbiolo. Unconventional Investment. Unconventional Results.
